“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” — Colossians 2:6–7
When we began praying about the theme for Grow Your Faith Retreat, we wanted a verse that captured the heart of what we hope every girl experiences. After a lot of prayer and careful consideration, Colossians 2:6–7 stood out as the perfect picture of our vision.
This retreat is not about starting from scratch. It is about building off the foundation you already have.
Many of the girls who will attend have already heard about Jesus, gone to church, or begun a relationship with Him. Paul’s words remind us that receiving Christ is only the beginning. We are called to continue living our lives in Him, to become deeply rooted, built up, and strengthened in our faith.
That is exactly what we want this retreat to encourage.
Throughout the weekend, we will dive deeper into practical topics that help us grow as followers of Jesus:
Prayer
Taking notes during Bible study and sermons
Sharing the gospel
Identity in Christ
Friendships and relationships
And many other areas of everyday faith
The retreat will include four service-style sessions, two devotion times, and two sets of workshops where attendees can choose the topic that speaks most to where they are in their walk with Christ.
One of the parts we are most excited about is the devotional guide every attendee will receive. This devotion is designed to walk through each lesson from the retreat and encourage girls to practice what they learn. Rather than ending when the weekend is over, the devotional continues through March 1st, giving each participant daily opportunities to go deeper in Scripture and reflect on how God’s Word applies to her everyday life.
Our prayer is that no one leaves Grow Your Faith thinking, “That was a fun weekend,” and then moves on unchanged. We want the retreat to be a starting point for intentional growth. Being rooted in Christ means more than attending church or knowing Bible stories; it means allowing Jesus to shape our thoughts, words, friendships, choices, and priorities.
Living like Jesus is a process. It involves many small steps of obedience. It means learning to navigate daily life with intention, asking, “Does this reflect Christ? Does this help me grow closer to Him?” That kind of growth takes time, effort, and a community that encourages it.
That is another reason this verse is so meaningful to us. Paul speaks not only of being rooted, but also of being built up and strengthened. Roots grow underground before anyone sees the fruit. In the same way, spiritual growth often happens quietly through prayer, Scripture, worship, and faithful obedience. Our hope is that Grow Your Faith Retreat becomes a place where those roots can grow deeper.
We also want this community to remain a safe space where girls can continue encouraging one another long after the retreat ends. Faith was never meant to be lived alone. As we learn together, pray together, and challenge one another to follow Jesus more closely, we are strengthened in the faith we have been taught.
Ultimately, the goal of this retreat is not simply more knowledge; it is a life that is rooted in Christ, built up in Him, strengthened in faith, and overflowing with thankfulness. If every girl leaves with a deeper desire to know Jesus, practice what she has learned, and intentionally live for Him in her everyday life, then we will know this retreat has accomplished what we prayed for.
